York stone was formed over 300 million years ago during
the Carboniferous (meaning 'coal bearing') period.
Consisting of mica, quartz, feldspar, silica, iron
oxides and clay. It has been quarried since medieval
times and by the 18th century a huge industry had been
developed quarrying the material.
Yorkstone is a Sandstone from Yorkshire, not Lancashire
or Derbyshire or any other part of the world like
China or India. Don't be fooled by other suppliers
offering you Yorkstone at cheap prices - Yorkstone isn't
cheap but it is the best!
Whilst other stone merchants in the stone merchant industry
sell artificial stone and pre-cast stone or imported
sandstone because it may be
cheap, it won't last the test of time and the quality is no
where near the standards of natural Yorkstone which Yorkstone

cutting tools to provide only the best fit for all
applications however *please be aware that there are
always natural discretions in stonework cutting
which means exact measurements can sometimes be a
few millimetres out either side due to the thickness
and bend of the diamond saw blades used .
